Position: Private Practitioner in São Paulo - Brazil
Why Endodontics: The perception is that endodontics can improve people’s life quality by easing their suffering and helping save their teeth.
Best Piece of Career Advice:An old professor always said, "Never put your private practice dreams on hold."
Endo Challenge: By the early 2000s, I started placing implants and at that time endo treatment was argued to be less reliable than implants in Brazil. I did a lot of lectures in endo and implants meetings, saying that was not true and defending endo against detractors of the specialty. The following years have shown both treatments are good options when well diagnosed/indicated and performed in a state-of-the-art way.
Reason for Becoming an AAE member: AAE is the most important association an endodontist should consider. They edit the JOE, host the most important meeting of the specialty (annual session), and promote endo like no one else in the world.
Fun Fact: I think every person should have the opportunity to visit Iguazu Falls on the Brazil/Argentina border. It's a powerful experience.
Community Question: Dear Colleagues, how can we be sure we are heading in the right direction when promoting very conservative endo? Thank you for the honor of sharing with the Connection community. If you have a member you would like to recommend, please email your submission to email@example.com
