Say hello to Dr. @Joseph A. Wakim
General Dentist (actively applying to become an Endodontist), employed at Wakim Cosmetic and Family Dental Group in Wichita, Kansas
· Graduated from the UMKC School of Dentistry with my DDS in 2019
· In private practice for 3.5 years
· Actively aspiring to become an Endodontist. Extremely passionate about the specialty, and am committed to hopefully becoming a resident.
The exposure to endodontics is what drew me to it. The more procedures I completed, the more I enjoyed doing them, and realized I want to be committed to doing them as best as I can.
I had a NSRCT on #19. The procedure took 2.5 hours, and it was one of the most challenging cases I completed due to extremely constricted canals and curvature at the apical third of both MB and ML canals. To ensure a successful outcome, I had to continuously irrigate and file between 0.08, 0.10 and 0.15 K-Files. Ultimately, I was able to obtain working length, patency, and the ability to use ProTaper Universal rotary files in the canals. This case is memorable because it reminded me of the importance of being steady and patient with every procedure, no matter how much time it takes.
Fun Fact: I am a movie buff. Whether it's going to the movies, writing screenplays, or editing home videos for my family. I'm also a huge Orlando fan and make the trip to Disney and Universal quite often.
