Brent Hiebert Headshot

Position:
I am a self-employed, full time endodontist and 50% owner of an endodontic practice in McMinnville, Oregon with a great business partner, Dr. Randy Heiman, and amazing Endo team!

Career Highlights:

  • Served as a Dental Office in the United States Navy for 5 years
  • Accepted into Loma Linda University's Endodontic Residency program in 2015
  • Publications: Journal of Endodontics in 2017 (with mentor Dr. Mahmoud Torabinejad), cover article in the California Dental Association Journal in 2019 (with mentor Dr. Leif Bakland)
  • Purchased an endodontic practice in 2018
  • Board Certification complete in 2020

Why Endodontics:
My passion for endodontics began during my AEGD Residency while serving in the Navy. Dr. George Guise, my mentor at the time, provided a great opportunity for me to expand my endodontic experience and skills. I enjoyed helping people save their teeth and never looked back.

Best Piece of Career Advice: Growing up, my mom and dad instilled in me a strong work ethic and value system as well as a belief that, with a focused effort, I could achieve great things. I strive to bring this focus daily to the patients I serve.

Endo Challenge: I applied to the Navy's endodontic residency following my AEGD residency and was turned down. That rejection only fueled my drive to become a great endodontist.

Reason for Becoming an AAE member: The AAE is an outstanding organization that helps and provides opportunities for endodontists to connect with one another. Support for community dentistry through organizations such as the ADA, AAE and local dental organizations is important as they navigate challenges such as COVID-19 and political policies that affect dentistry, etc. on our behalf.

Fun Fact: I grew up on a large farm where at one time or another we raised over 100 llamas and alpacas, over 25 buffalo and over 50 Yak (Once you've had Yak, you'll never go back!).

Community Question: (A question that community members can respond to)  What is one pearl of wisdom you can share that helped you achieve success as an endodontist?
